Internships
Rivers
Edge Chèvre (Three Ring Farm) is dedicated to sustainable farmstead cheesemaking, producing goat
milk cheeses, and in the near future mixed milk goat
and sheep cheeses. We are located in the Central Coast
Range about 30 minutes from Newport, Oregon. We are
a small family
farm with 60 does (young and old) and a small flock of
sheep, plus dogs, cats, chickens, and ponies.
Room and Board
We have a
semi-private space available, with access to bath
and kitchen. You will find it more convenient to
have your own car, as the nearest store is a mile
away. The town of Siletz is six miles west, where
there is a library and small grocery store. The
larger town of Toledo has a public pool (indoor),
library, and several coffee stops, and there are
many interesting stores, shops, and restaurants in
the city of Newport.
You are
welcome to eat with the family or prepare your own
food - we raise our own animals for meat, and there's always fresh
goat milk and plenty of cheese.
Skills
You must
be willing to learn and
able to understand directions. Cleanliness is absolutely
essential! You must
be able to lift 50 pounds. We will train you in the following
areas
if needed: general farm work involving feeding and
bedding animals, milking, and cleaning. You may have
opportunities to sell cheese directly at local farmer's markets.
In return, you'll learn how to make really good
cheese!
Compensation
Room and
board provided.
Additional stipend to be agreed on.
